What’s happening in Italian in Term 4 2025
FOUNDATION:
In Term Four, the Foundation students will be exploring the beautiful country of Italia (Italy). With the help of the story La Macchinetta Rossa (The Little Red Car), students will go on an adventure to discover some of Italy’s most famous landmarks. They will also enjoy short videos to learn fun facts about Italy — including the colours of the Italian flag, where Italy is on the map, and some things Italy is well known for, such as its delicious food and amazing art. To finish the year, students will take part in festive Italian Christmas crafts and learn about special Italian Christmas traditions.
GRADE 1:
In Term Four, Grade 1 students will explore the theme Giochiamo! (“Let’s play!”) as they learn Italian words and phrases through games, songs, and movement activities. Students will learn how to name and talk about their favourite games, follow simple instructions in Italian, and use phrases for taking turns and playing together. They will also discover some traditional Italian playground games and even create their own game using Italian words. The focus is on having fun while developing confidence in speaking and understanding Italian! To finish the year, students will take part in festive Italian Christmas crafts and learn about special Italian Christmas traditions.
GRADE 2:

Students will also work independently to write short descriptions of their pets, using modelled sentences and adjectives learnt in class. To finish the year, students will take part in festive Italian Christmas crafts and learn about special Italian Christmas traditions.
GRADE 4:

To finish the year, students will take part in festive Italian Christmas crafts and learn about special Italian Christmas traditions.
GRADE 6:
In Term Four, Grade 6 students will go on a virtual journey through Italy – Un Viaggio in Italia (A trip to Italy), learning practical skills like booking tickets, choosing accommodation and planning sightseeing. Along the way, they will build their Italian speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
