The Center for Scholastic Journalism amplifies the work of the Knight Chair in Scholastic Journalism to cultivate journalism education in middle and secondary schools in the United States. Established in 2006, the Center is part of the School of Media and Journalism at �鶹�� and is supported with an endowment from the .

Mapping Scholastic Media State Associations

Scholastic media associations serve as the backbone of journalism and media education in the United States, providing workshops, conferences, contests and scholarships. Fifty state organizations support journalism students and educators across 46 states.

How many high schools in the United States offer student media?

Two national surveys commissioned by the Center for Scholastic Journalism in 2011 and 2021 tracked the percentages of public high schools that support newspapers, yearbooks, TV programs and radio outlets.
Influencer U Promotes Teaching Content Creator-Style Journalism

More than 160 educators from across the United States registered to participate in the summer 2025 Influencer U webinar, which trained them to teach students to create “content creator”-like journalism tailored to platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts.
