Like mother, like daughter. Meet Christine Woo, Ph.D, and Nathalie Nicol, BSPH – mother and daughter - both graduates of the 鶹 College of Public Health. Spring 2025 marked another exciting chapter for the Community Health Worker Training programs at 鶹. Starting summer 2025, a cohort of community health workers (CHWs) are taking the next step in their careers by adding the newly created Supervision Undergraduate Certificate to their resumes. Which skills are needed for success?

  • Comfort with numbers and data
  • Technical aptitude (no need to be a programming or statistics pro, but some proficiency is extremely useful)
  • Openness to learning and collaboration
  • Interest in making data actionable 

Michelle offers some advice for this aspect as well, stating, “Don’t let the lack of an analytics background hold you back. If you are curious, motivated, and willing to learn, you already have what it takes to succeed.”
