For nearly 110 years, Mercy Health has addressed the growing needs of the Mahoning Valley, which includes the city of Warren and its surrounding communities. Mercy Health has been evaluating ways to meet the increasing healthcare needs of those living in Trumbull County, delivering on its promise of providing care when and where people live and work. As part of this commitment, Mercy Health has announced the future development of land adjacent to the �鶹���� at Trumbull Campus. 

The Division for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion offers anti-racism training on Kent State’s campus, which consists of a series of sessions that include anti-racism workshops, Cultural Competency Basics & Awareness, Understanding Unconscious Bias, Leadership, Mindset & Care, Learning How to Be an Ally, and various additional topics on equity, inclusion, microaggressions and diversity.

�鶹���� shines again in the new 2021 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings. Kent State is the highest-ranking public university in Northern Ohio on the Top Public Schools and Best National Universities lists in the newly released rankings.

In the past decade, American smartphone usage has grown more than 50% according to a . Smartphones have become as commonplace as a wallet or car keys and Kent State researchers are taking advantage of this new commodity by using cell phone data to study individuals’ behavioral patterns during the COVID-19 pandemic and link cell phone use behaviors to mental health. 

�鶹���� at Trumbull will become home to a Siffrin Academy to help people with disabilities transition from high school to jobs or advanced education programs.

The National Institute of Health granted additional funding to �鶹���� researcher  bringing her total award amount to more than $3 million to support her research on mental well-being and coping after traumatic injuries in individuals aged 65 and older. 

Alumnus Andrew Konya, '10, graduated from �鶹���� with a degree in physics and started chiseling away at what is now his company, Remesh, in 2013. Remesh, has gone on to receive  to continue expanding and creating solutions.

Throughout the summer, the College of Podiatric Medicine (CPM) raised scholarship dollars in the spirit of Alumni Reunion Weekend that culminated in the announcement of this year’s four scholarship award winners.

In 2019, a team of researchers in Kent State’s Department of Anthropology published its “prize-winning” research article titled in the Journal of Archaeological Science. �鶹���� psychology major Tanner Noble has been struggling with cancer for five of his last six years, but things changed dramatically for him with the approved use of a new treatment for teenagers and adults.

The Kent State Museum’s newest exhibition, “Fortuna: Designs by Vincent Quevedo,” marks the first new exhibition for the museum since its reopening in August and is on display now. It features works by award-winning designer and School of Fashion Associate Professor Vincent Quevedo.

The �鶹���� Board of Trustees congratulated Kent State President Todd Diacon and university leaders on increased retention and graduation rates, as well as a strong Class of 2024, as official fall 2020 enrollment figures were shared at the Board’s regular quarterly meeting held Wednesday, Sept. 16.

In partnership with �鶹����, Main Street Kent invites mask-wearing Kent State students to visit downtown Kent businesses for a chance to win great prizes.

Five students from �鶹���� at Geauga distinguished themselves as writing award winners during Spring Semester 2020. Each was a student of Bonnie Shaker, Ph.D., assistant professor of English. While Kent State Geauga students have won a total of 16 awards from 2014 through 2020 in different categories, five winners in one year is a notable achievement.

Lauren Kinsman-Costello, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Biological Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences, will serve as the H2Ohio Wetland Monitoring Program Lead for Lake Erie and Aquatic Research Network (LEARN). The group will assess the effectiveness and future role of implemented and planned wetland restoration projects in partnership with the Ohio Division of Natural Resources (ODNR). This project is part of Governor Mike DeWine’s , a comprehensive, data-driven approach to improving Ohio’s water quality.

To celebrate Constitution Day, �鶹���� Libraries is offering a virtual screening of the documentary "And She Could Be Next" on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2020. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion that will include the filmmakers and Kent State faculty members.
