In term 2 students are learning about the topic of health. Students will learn how to understand and make smart decisions about the health information they see in the media. They’ll explore how advertisements, celebrities, and social media can influence our choices, and how to tell if the information is reliable. Through fun activities, students will practice reading food labels, identifying healthy habits in ads, and recognising tricks used in media to make products seem healthier. They’ll also learn how to create their own positive health messages, promoting good habits like exercise, healthy eating, and kindness. By the end of the unit, students will be better equipped to think critically and make healthier choices in their daily lives.

Wellbeing

In the coming term, our Grade 4 students will be learning valuable strategies to support their emotional wellbeing and resilience. Through SWPBS expectations and engagement norms, they will participate in Circle Time discussions and explore positive coping strategies. Students will use games to learn about managing strong emotions, taming anger, and making sincere apologies. With support from Smiling Minds lessons and structured problem-solving tasks, they will apply the Roads and Roundabouts model to real-life peer situations. We’ll also focus on stress management by introducing self-calming techniques and helping students create their own “Ready to Learn” plans. It will be an engaging and meaningful journey in learning how to understand and manage thoughts, feelings, and actions.
